3 is the Magic Number

3 for $5, 3 sides to a triangle, and a little over three minutes of shredding from Kurt and I. This was probably the most fun filming I've had out of all the Country Clubbin' video projects, so I hope you all enjoy it! Thanks to everyone who helped us film too!

Don't Snore-a on Sonora

Exclusive Country Club member Pat Leahy demonstrates how BMX is rad and how sweet loc'd out videos are flying under the radar as a result of SJBMX's power down. Take notes boys, below is 100% BMX!

The Haunt for Shred October 2

A couple of familiar gags, a few new characters, and the underlining plot of shredding make this a bone(chilling)-ified Halloween sequel. Although it might be lacking an 80 foot dead whale, it still contains some good clips from a pretty solid day of riding. All it claimed was a pedal, two stem bolts, and the integrity of the original, which you can view below!

Happy Halloween 2011!

We usually forget birthdays, dates for jams, and plenty more relevant events that generally effect the Clubbin' brethren. But today, I'd like to wish everybody a happy Halloween. Halloween is a good holiday; not my favorite holiday, but it's still fun after all these years. Especially since I'm psyched on the crew, the costume, and the near future. Cheers! Also, thanks to Nathan, Jackson, Crazy Chris, and everyone who came out on Saturday that made for an awesome Fun Spot jam. Blew my expectations away for sure.

Make sure to check this link too, for a glimpse of the new FBM video. Should be rad, and a premiere is in the works too...

Boo There...

...or boo square. The fun starts at noon, and there will be pizza, shredding, prizes, and costumes. Get into the spirit; the haunted spirit! I know there are a bunch of hungry ass kids out there, so make sure you bring a non-perishable food item for an entry fee. See you there, homies!

Speaking of homies, here are some vids from the Country Clubbin' extended family. Take a look!

Where's the Beach, Bro? Volume 2

Summer's a wrap, the kooks are staying over the hill, but the shredding still persists. Rode bikes with a lot of cool people from other lands but also kept it regular with the boys. Throw on some sunscreen and take a look!

So I had a chance to go out to Laguna Seca and drive the formula cars for the day, definitely one of the most fun/scary days ever.

It's Really Been Ten Years?

With the ten year anniversary of 9/11 upon us today, I can't help but think of Alex Jones. Nut-case, genius, professional wrestler? He's fighting the New World Order, wherever and whomever that may be. And for those who are not too familiar (myself included), I thought this rant was worth a watch.

2:03 turn us into slugs? Kurt and I are in trouble. Is it a coincidence I found this scene on display at the hot bed of all slugs, the UCSC bookstore? The conspiracies are out there!

Beast Coast Vacation

Right after Jarrod and Sarah's wedding, Janelle and I headed to the east coast for about two weeks. Visited family, stayed on lake house, and went to New York for the first time. So here's some photographic and video evidence that I am not lying. Don't forget to check the posts below, as this is a pretty big cluster of updates.

Sick spot in Queens, thanks for the directions Cisco!

5Pointz is a famous graffiti spot in Queens. I think it might be closing down soon, but it was an awesome spot to chill and soak in the culture surrounding the area.

May the vacation be with you!

I don't know why I haven't seen this on TCU, but I'm a fan of New York street riding... and the pizza!

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Bourne-Blog-Inside-Easton-Hockey-8217-s-helmet?urn=nhl-wp9855

Little article on where i spend my days, I like this response to the article:

"So, basically, what you're saying is that you went to Santa Cruz for the weather and beaches, and then jotted off to Easton for a couple hours so you could write the whole vacation off as a work-related expense."

The Good, the Bad, and the Battered

San Diego shredder and all-around scumbag Anthony Ayala sending it, seen on Roll Mexican. Dude knows how to ride and party, while at the same time impressing your girlfriend with respectful manners.

In the words of former Governor of the State of California, "IT'S NOT A TUMAH!" Rolled my ankle the other day, so I've been trying to take it easy. Injuries are no fun during the summer, just ask Santa Cruz shredders Kenny Perry (broken leg), Dusty Samson (freshly torn ACL), Ryan Finn (I forgot, but he did get hurt again) and Jackson Allen (recovering from a pulled hamstring). I almost feel like we need a "Get Well Soon" page, but that would be a little fruity. Bear-force 1 was enough. Anyways, be careful out there, and keep shredding.

Mike Fuckin' Tag

I am thoroughly bummed that Mike Tag, one of my all-time favorite riders, was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I never met Mr. Tagliavento personally, but I grew up admiring his no bull shit General Sherman style of street destruction. You can read about this shitty news here, and make a donation here. Bad news for sure, but hopefully we can see him destroy this with the same ferocity as he would a 30 stair kinked handrail.

Gotta Keep Ya Shred Up

Ride At Your Own Risk from Mike Novelli on Vimeo.

Bikes v. Skateparks has never really been an issue for me because I grew up riding without a local park. The one I frequented the most was probably Vans before it closed down, and come to think of it, having a skatepark in a mall is a little weird and creepy, especially in light of this. I guess there was Greer and Alameda, but both were far enough out of the way to make me look elsewhere for more accessible places to ride. Caltrans was our little portal that took us throughout the Bay Area Peninsula, in search of new spots to ride and adventures to be had. It's funny for me to think back at how Millbrae or downtown San Jose seemed like Barcelona in terms of being untapped and new places for shredding; in reality they were no more than thirty minutes away by car. Needless to say, I've rolled with a bravado that I'll still be riding just as much even if skateparks didn't exist.

Yet as I get older, I'm realizing that it's really not okay to just roll up to a school yard, play ground, government building, etc. and act like it's okay because you're just doing bike tricks. People still get uncomfortable seeing a grown up thrashing around town on a 20 inch, despite how mainstream BMX has become. As a cop or security guard is running your information, every year it becomes harder for me to tell them with an honest face "Whoops, I didn't know I wasn't supposed to be here." But as the years of participation pile up, it seems that inevitably the risks do too, and I'm not just talking about injuries. Unfortunately, I find that I'm not listening to nearly as much Rancid compared to my earlier days enough to say "Fuck it," and move on.

Anyways, I was really surprised to watch this documentary and see city workers who don't ride actually understand how the current treatment of public skateparks is dumb and unfair for bikes. I really enjoyed the comparison of maintenance fees between a skatepark and a baseball field, not to mention how they showed how skateparks are treated as revenue generators at the cost of the participants. Perhaps this is just my opinion, but it also seemed to open the argument that current policing of skateparks are a way to penalize participants for deviating from more traditional team/competitive sports and label them as outcasts. Most impressive of all was the fact that this well put together documentary sprang from the same land who produced this. Anyways, keep ya shred up player!

Of course the Santa Cruz boys got a sneak peak of this on Saturday, but here's a project that Mike and Jackson have been working on via The Least Most. With more tabletops than a high school cafeteria and whirlwind speed that will surely knock your reservoir tip beanie straight off, this edit came out rad. Monday, Money, Mesta

So it's finally winter again, and what better way to celebrate this morose Monday by updating this morose blog.

There were so many empty cans that didn't make it to the recycle bin on Friday, that Country Clubbin' decided to really give back to the homeless community. Partially inspired by this, while also a response to our government's reluctance to invest itself in social relief programs. Viva la Country Clubbin!'

Also, I know Budman is out of town, so I feel somewhat obligated to rep the loc's from around the way. Here, Eric Mesta demonstrates the almost forgotten art of the feeble grind and shreds some Peninsula spots that certainly take me back a day or two. Good stuff!
