"I know a man who wears a $600 pair of shoes and carries two guns with him at all times; one for starting trouble, and one for ending trouble." - Vic the Most
Canadian Country Clubbin' affiliate, Andrew Gobbo, shared these two videos with me and they are both tight. I don't think either have graced bmx media moguls such as the come up or even sjbmx, so these are a pretty hot import. Some big names featured too such as Kym Grosser and Sam Lowe, so you know you're gonna get a fair share of superman seatgrabs and rail rallying. Second one isn't very work safe, FYI. Vancouver road trip anyone?
If anyone sees "Homo Andrew The Titty Grabber" out and about he really needs a job, throw ideas his way.
"Speaking of Homo Andrew the Titty Grabber" - This is apparently why we are in a pickle with the city. Drinking beers on the heroin super highway (the Pogonip) is apparently a bad idea.
It's hard to imagine my world of BMX without the X-games. X-games 16 is a mere week or two away, and apparently Andy Buckworth is going to try and step on Anthony Napolitan's dick with a no-handed double front flip on the mega-ramp. Had it not been for those two hour broadcasts captivating my heart with vert ramps, spins, and flips, not to mention nourishing my hunger for Taco Bell, Mountain Dew, and Pizza Hut, I would probably spend most of my time blogging about video games, Star Wars, collecting action figures, or maybe even making a difference in the world. For many, this was their first taste of excitement, which led to their first bite of BMX. And as my interest for the X-games dwindled over the years, my appreciation for the riders and the contest's function in the mainstream world is still remarkably high.
Yet as I lay on my couch nursing my tease of a left knee, I had the opportunity to watch X-Games: The Movie instantly on Netflix. Although they showcase the most X athletes who drive the contest today, I find it hard to grasp BMX as the competitively driven lifestyle they portray. My favorite quote, which was bound to rattle my inner college student was "Who needs an A in history, when you can get an X." It's unfortunate to see that mainstream focuses on action sports (BMX was largely left out of the movie) embellish this sexy competitive warrior image, when really the large majority of riders are just nerds who don't dig team sports. Plus it was disappointing to see a lot of the movie's focus on motor sports such as Moto-X and rally car, whereas skateboarding, BMX, and by golly even Rollerblading were the core sports that kept the original event afloat. And as demonstrated by the opening credits, I sure hope they do not pursue X-Games: The Musical. Unless, of course, it is directed and choreographed by Andrew Lloyd SHREDDER! To close this rant, Pat Leahy depicts a much more realistic portrayal of BMX that somehow the average viewer doesn't seem to notice. Through this edit, he reminds us that we can still train for the X-games at your local lake, while being a peeping Tom at the same time. Win/win, right?
Here's a compilation of some of the riding that went down in Salinas for the first 4Loko tour stop. Yes, the watermarks are annoying, but I had to spend a crap load of time converting .mpg to .mov files and cropping the watermark out basically made the clip look like scrambled porn. So I apologize if you feel you pulled some stuff and it didn't make the cut, particularly George's rail ride to barspin. Nevertheless, we rode some rad spots and had a good crew of people to shred with. Thanks to Crazy Chris for making it happen, and thanks to everyone else who showed up. Hopefully there's enough SC footage to get edits for every stop. Or I hope Tomy coughs up his cell phone videos, because I'm pretty sure I saw him recording the pepperoni bandit in action.
I think it's about time we finally had some reason to click the disclaimer when you first come to this website. Thank you LSD riders, you're making us appear to have edgy content. If only we could get Kelly or somebody to snap his balls in a mousetrap like the guy in the beginning of this movie. I'm not really trying to drop a sword on my foot anytime soon, or have anyone do that really.
Imagine How stoked you were when you saw Seek & Destroy and Criminal Mischief. Now imagine the antics to riding ratio grossly inverted for this catastrophe to also come out of the Philadelphia suburbs.
Budman sent this over and it definitely outshines most of the things that are usually posted on this site. Congrats once again to Samar for running his own deal, with mail order too. Probably good for Cali boys having a hard time getting mail order good goods, seeing how most are Midwest or East Coast. Check it out here.
Also, I took this at the SFO airport a few months back while going to Florida. Savor The Flavor?
We hit a hundo, and we done it again! Celebration would seem to be the obvious choice, but instead I'm laying confined to my couch where proper posture and elevation give me hope that I won't need surgery for a drunken football play gone wrong. Sigh. I can officially say, I'm in here, doing the least. This clip cheered me up though, enjoy!
Brad shot a few flicks from the jam, so here goes. Highlights included Squeeks 540ing and Trucking up the step up, Will Grahn Wallride to whip, Seabourne held down the black rail at the Galleria, and the overall smoothness of what led up to the premiere. And don't even think i'm gonna forget about this.
Today is Murph's birthday, so I put together a very special edit that has some NEVER BEFORE SEEN FOOTAGE!!! And Murph's a rad dude, Santa Cruz is stoked! If anyone can correctly guess the TOTAL amount of degrees Murph spun in this video (roll-outs don't count, half cabs do), then the victor will win a new car. This prize is redeemable on Saturday, after 5pm, while shralping the streets of the Santa Cruz 4 Loko stop.
While we are on it, the 4Loko tour Santa Cruz will start at the Fun Spot at 4:30, and depart for Santa Cruz High at 5pm. Please try to be on time. The Cult video will be shown at Pacific Ave Cycles around 8:30pm-9pm. There will be prizes, mini-contests, and more to be had, so come on down. My only request is to respect your surroundings. Santa Cruz is different than Oakland and San Francisco; remember, you're not in a bustling city, but a small town that is usually pretty open-minded. But shoot, sometimes you just don't know what people are smoking around here. Let's just say if a shop owner gives us shit, we should politely move on to the next spot. If a troll gives us shit, then feel free to heckle. Got it? With that said, hope to see all you heads on Saturday!
I thought CC could use some more original content, so here is a brief look into what summer has yielded so far. Good stuff, despite the fact that the Buena Vista bowl is getting filled in again for the millionth time. I hope everyone had a fun 4th of July and is getting ready for the Santa Cruz 4 Lokos stop on the 10th. The one in Salinas on Saturday was awesome, big thanks to Chris for putting that together. Hopefully some pictures or video can surface soon. It's late, peace!
