degeneration

Definition: Stresses physical, intellectual, or especially moral retrogression - the degeneration of their youthful idealism into cynicism

Long story short I have found my self nearly intoxicated for a week straight sobering up enough to go to work.

Im selling my truck to replace a bike, any takers?

Not to take away from the utter shred-fest displayed by Morgan Long, but hey, this happened a few days ago at my old high school!

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/08/24/BAAT19CUPM.DTL

Unfortunately, this will be the last time I blog... at work!!! NO JOB BABY, HOLLA AT ME!!!

And I found a new spot in the beach flats which is kind of fun. For those who still have bikes that can stunt, we should jib there. Peaceful weekends everyone!

Long Beach

Stayed with this guy and Eben Fisher for a couple days when me, Jarrod, and Carplebeev went down to LA last summer on a shred mission. Nice guy and jesus is he shredding these days.

Even Newer FunSpot

This is why the city threw our bike park westward about 100 yards

"SANTA CRUZ -- Almost 17 years after President George H.W. Bush marked the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary off-limits to oil drilling, shark chumming and Jet Skis, visitors to Surf City will soon be able to see the wonders that the national sanctuary was created to protect.

Exactly $3 million in federal funding came through Thursday to help build the $16 million Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center on the former "Fun Spot" skateboard and bicycle park across from Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf.

Supporters say that money, coupled with about $4.6 million in federal dollars expected this September, is the final amount needed to begin construction. Crews could break ground as soon as January. The visitors center is expected to draw about 350,000 people annually."

The attraction will feature an intertidal touch pool; a floor-to-ceiling model of a kelp forest, complete with a scuba diver; a theater projecting footage of deep sea critters found in the bay's underwater canyon; and other exhibits.

Good times had on that peace of land, but I think the marine lab will be awesome

Building The Underground

As many of you know, this is one of the best BMX videos ever made. (and if you have my copy of it I really want it back)

but anyways, there is going to be a Building the Underground 2 - currently in the works

Davey watson:
"You don’t really take breaks from filming like other people do. Are you jumping right into another project?
DW: Building the Underground 2, trying to get a part in that. And going on those Federal trips filming for some web vids."

Real Big Fish

For you folks that enjoy Santa Cruz's beaches

The decisions were made after visitors spotted a shark munching on a porpoise carcass off Seacliff State Beach on Tuesday afternoon.

Dave Casper, a veterinarian at Long Marine Laboratory in Santa Cruz, said bites on the porpoise are about 10 inches across, and probably were made by a "teenage" great white shark about 10 to 12 feet long. "We see lots of shark bites on dead carcasses," Casper said. "A lot of these white sharks are just bumbling idiots. Its not surprising those bites are likely to be from 10- or 12-foot sharks, young teenage sharks that are trying to figure out the game plan." Both Norton and Kirk Lingenfelter, local superintendent with California State Parks, said they will evaluate the closures today and could reopen the water to swimmers for the weekend

BAD FISHY!

who wants to go surfing????

BONNY DOON - The Lockheed Fire consumed 2,800 acres in the remote forest between Swanton and Bonny Doon on Thursday as quick-moving flames fueled by thick underbrush raged out of control for a second day, leading authorities to order the evacuation of up to 2,400 residents.

Bolstered by 120 engines and 20 aircraft, more than 2,000 firefighters serving in ground crews employed bulldozers, axes and bare hands to set backfires, lay hose lines and dig breaks in an attempt to contain the blaze, which raged in a parched expanse of tinder-dry brush and timber that hasn't burned for more than six decades.

Cal Fire said the blaze started near the Lehi Camp, a Mormon retreat at the top of Empire Grade, and the Lockheed Martin facility. The cause is unknown.

Just five years ago, Cal Fire identified the largely inaccessible woodlands surrounding the two sites as the county's worst wildfire hazard. The last major blaze in that area, the 19,000-acre Pine Mountain Fire of 1948, which burned for a month, is still the county's largest wildfire on record.

Update

The Santa Cruz police detpartment will not accept formal complaints over the phone. To make a complaint there is a form that needs to be filled out, they may be picked up in person down at the cop shop.

Santa Cruz parks and rec will refer you to : Steve Hammak 420-5366, regarding hard to interpret signage located at depoparkspot.

The muni code ordinace that Macintosh "violated" is here:

13.12.010 SAFETY REQUIREMENTS. No person shall ride a skateboard or bicycle or permit a minor for whom he or she is responsible to ride a skateboard or bicycle in a city park or recreational facility unless the person or minor, while riding the skateboard or bicycle, is wearing a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads. (Ord. 2007-15 § 2, 2007: Ord. 94-47 § 1 (part), 1994).

Now the question remains, did the officers have sufficiant proof that andlbeev was in fact riding without head sholders knees and toes? Or was he merely moving in the direction of said officers with the intent to communicate?

you be the judge.
