"I know a man who wears a $600 pair of shoes and carries two guns with him at all times; one for starting trouble, and one for ending trouble." - Vic the Most
It's August already and I haven't dropped any sweet Santa Cruz summer sizzlers. So instead of being an ignorant bald head, I've put together this irie bmx jam for y'all to enjoy. The weekend is upon us, shred jah bicycle mon!
Good news! The Lil Mikey Beeswax website/store just got a facelift, so CLICK HERE to get more info on the birds and the bees your parents DIDN'T tell you about.
Also, it's that time of year again, and the Boardwalk summer line up has been dropped! Paired with a new roller coaster, Friday nights at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk are bound to be a blast. Beware of the Kook Skywalker's and Barn Solo's though. Check out the amazing line-up here. So much for riding on Saturdays, unless we get the party going at the 6:30 shows.
Been clocking a lot of time at Mike Fox this past week, and it finally dawned upon me that there are A LOT of really talented ripper skaters in town. Don't get me wrong, Santa Cruz has produced tons of skate icons in the form of brands and skaters. However, I find it really easy to get desensitized to the many wood pushers that just hang out, want to look cool, or simply get in the way. So raise your glasses to the young rippers that are chasing that adrenaline dragon, staying motivated, and doing sick shit in our backyard!
CJ pulling out the stops with one and a half shoulders. I feel for the man, since my shoulder is really sore right now. I feel bad for CJ getting lumped in with this round of tags though. Sorry dude!
Happy New Year's boys! 2012 was all over the place, but a great year for Country Clubbin' overall. We're still riding, healthy, and having fun. But it's always good to start with fresh with a clean slate. So get stoked on the new year with some trails, trannies, and twinkle toes.
Heavily inspired by the new movie, Chasing Mavericks, local riders in Santa Cruz are trying to live like Jay and "GET IT IN." The Hunger Games have officially started, with the help of Nate Delp and his 7Deeznuts. Some pics from a Monterey session, hopefully scaring some old people. Mike Hutch pulling a Tupac by putting out more riding content when he isn't capable of riding. And finally a tribute to that guy Tyler Smith and what he does best - rip around skateparks. I love the GR831!
After a wonderful and wild weekend in Texas, it feels great to come back to Santa Cruz. Thanks to everyone who rode hard, partied hard, and took our names to the next level. PS go to Chris' warehouse in Salinas, you will have fun.
Here it is boys, a little teaser for a longer project that I've been working on secretly. Or not so secretly. But either way, it's coming along well, I'm hoping to be done before Mike's wedding, and want to have a party for a premiere. Who's in on it, boys?
Life got you down? Watch this video, be stoked on bikes, stoked on friends, stoked on life. Then watch it again. And it wouldn't be a Country Clubbin' post without a shameless plug for Santa Cruzians. All hail FBM!
Made this quick edit for the LMB boys. They should be re-vamping their website soon, so check them out when you're not out on your grind. It's good to be back in Santa Cruz.
Just in case y'all forgot, the Fun Spot in Santa Cruz is having a jam on Sunday, Halloween. Wear a costume, dooda most, and get some gear. If somebody makes it to HOW6, Fun Spot, and Clayton whilst busting at every stop, I will buy them a 40 of Country Club. It will be a rad time, so I strongly encourage all to make their way out to the 831 on Halloween!
Here's a compilation of some of the riding that went down in Salinas for the first 4Loko tour stop. Yes, the watermarks are annoying, but I had to spend a crap load of time converting .mpg to .mov files and cropping the watermark out basically made the clip look like scrambled porn. So I apologize if you feel you pulled some stuff and it didn't make the cut, particularly George's rail ride to barspin. Nevertheless, we rode some rad spots and had a good crew of people to shred with. Thanks to Crazy Chris for making it happen, and thanks to everyone else who showed up. Hopefully there's enough SC footage to get edits for every stop. Or I hope Tomy coughs up his cell phone videos, because I'm pretty sure I saw him recording the pepperoni bandit in action.
Brad shot a few flicks from the jam, so here goes. Highlights included Squeeks 540ing and Trucking up the step up, Will Grahn Wallride to whip, Seabourne held down the black rail at the Galleria, and the overall smoothness of what led up to the premiere. And don't even think i'm gonna forget about this.
I thought CC could use some more original content, so here is a brief look into what summer has yielded so far. Good stuff, despite the fact that the Buena Vista bowl is getting filled in again for the millionth time. I hope everyone had a fun 4th of July and is getting ready for the Santa Cruz 4 Lokos stop on the 10th. The one in Salinas on Saturday was awesome, big thanks to Chris for putting that together. Hopefully some pictures or video can surface soon. It's late, peace!
Although my original post was completely riveting, let's not forget The Lost Boys Outdoor Movie Event and Corey Feldman's band is playing tonight at the Boardwalk! Oh yeah, TV rocker chick sensation Daisy De La Hoya from the hit show, (according to Kelly), Everybody Fucks Daisy, will also be in attendance. I think she might be in Corey Feldman's band. The band starts at 6:30, meet-n-greet at 7:30, and the movie starts at 9. WE OUT HERE!
Here are a few of the more poetic responses to the solid 90 minutes of riot that ensued last night. Pretty Hyphy... and I thought it was party time over at ye olde Country Clubbin' Blogspot:
"i am a guard downtown lol.. it was crazy.. my store had toclose and like hell of cop cars .... people wanting to but stuff... this was insane lol... look must students do not suport this insane violense.. yea who is online... my yahoo is flying_underwear... please add me and chat with me... i want to start a non violent movement to counter this stuff... as a guard i see lots of people being mean to each other but still have the nerve to complain aobut the government and police.. if society is to change we have to take the evil out of the people.. i have aim too." - Guard, Redwood City
"Yawn... Yes, what a "travesty and injustice", but what is REALLY important is that we still have Pelosi, Obama, "Gay Marriage", Health Care at the end of a (IRS) gun, and the "Santa Cruz Style Social Enlightenment and Permissiveness Gang" to take care of us! So all is well after all... right?! I wonder how Mike Friend is going to spin this. No justice, no peace!!, Si, si puedes!!, Yes we can!!, Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah... "Immaturocracy", anyone?,'cause it only gets worse from here, folks. -To be continued... guaranteed. (Although I hope I'm wrong, I really, really do)" - Dusty Cynical Asshole from Oakland
"first of all let's get our facts straight. as one can see on the santa cruz independent media center website (links not allowed - indybay dot org slash santa cruz), the event was billed as a may day anti-capitalist street party, NOT a protest about any particular issue. may day is celebrated around the world as a revolutionary workers' holiday since 1886 when it was the day of the chicago general strike in the campaign for the 8-hour work day. the issue at stake is capitalism itself, and the colective power of the dispossessed classes against it, rather than any number of "rights" within it. i understand you need to go with *something* but at least do a little research - even on wikipedia - instead of *just* reprinting anything the cops tell you, eh? since when do they get to speak for anyone besides themselves?
to the rest of you, your ideas about santa cruz's radical political scene and who you see as responsible for this are truly laughable. the fbi have been here repeatedly and haven't caught anyone. you have no idea what you are dealing with, maybe its true that the status quo is always blind to its own oncoming demise. half the people breaking **** were radicals, half were just random young people who joined spontaneously, and certainly all of them hate your guts. it's probably best you just keep talking trash from behind the safety of your computer screens. oh yeah, the thing about "nonviolent" security guards and police is pretty hilarious too. how does that work?" - Alexg, Santa Cruz, CA
"This is senseless anger out of control. If these idiots do not like it here, they should pack their **** and go back to whatever country they cmae from." Watsonville Dad, Mountain View, CA (Thanks Tranny!)
In response to Cafe Pergolessi getting temporarily torched via text "I guess there is a god. This is amazing news. Thanks for letting of know." Andre Ordona, the world.
I think we can officially say "Ya Barn!" to this fantastic display of keeping Santa Cruz weird. Got grapes?
Spring Break is here and should have bike rollin soon, jibbing and shitting all day son. I have had to take it to the a whole other level of gnar, Sailing two man lasers, pretty rad, also corey took evan and i skydiving, scope it.
