Here's a compilation of some of the riding that went down in Salinas for the first 4Loko tour stop. Yes, the watermarks are annoying, but I had to spend a crap load of time converting .mpg to .mov files and cropping the watermark out basically made the clip look like scrambled porn. So I apologize if you feel you pulled some stuff and it didn't make the cut, particularly George's rail ride to barspin. Nevertheless, we rode some rad spots and had a good crew of people to shred with. Thanks to Crazy Chris for making it happen, and thanks to everyone else who showed up. Hopefully there's enough SC footage to get edits for every stop. Or I hope Tomy coughs up his cell phone videos, because I'm pretty sure I saw him recording the pepperoni bandit in action.
Today is Murph's birthday, so I put together a very special edit that has some NEVER BEFORE SEEN FOOTAGE!!! And Murph's a rad dude, Santa Cruz is stoked! If anyone can correctly guess the TOTAL amount of degrees Murph spun in this video (roll-outs don't count, half cabs do), then the victor will win a new car. This prize is redeemable on Saturday, after 5pm, while shralping the streets of the Santa Cruz 4 Loko stop.
While we are on it, the 4Loko tour Santa Cruz will start at the Fun Spot at 4:30, and depart for Santa Cruz High at 5pm. Please try to be on time. The Cult video will be shown at Pacific Ave Cycles around 8:30pm-9pm. There will be prizes, mini-contests, and more to be had, so come on down. My only request is to respect your surroundings. Santa Cruz is different than Oakland and San Francisco; remember, you're not in a bustling city, but a small town that is usually pretty open-minded. But shoot, sometimes you just don't know what people are smoking around here. Let's just say if a shop owner gives us shit, we should politely move on to the next spot. If a troll gives us shit, then feel free to heckle. Got it? With that said, hope to see all you heads on Saturday!
I thought CC could use some more original content, so here is a brief look into what summer has yielded so far. Good stuff, despite the fact that the Buena Vista bowl is getting filled in again for the millionth time. I hope everyone had a fun 4th of July and is getting ready for the Santa Cruz 4 Lokos stop on the 10th. The one in Salinas on Saturday was awesome, big thanks to Chris for putting that together. Hopefully some pictures or video can surface soon. It's late, peace!
Here are a few of the more poetic responses to the solid 90 minutes of riot that ensued last night. Pretty Hyphy... and I thought it was party time over at ye olde Country Clubbin' Blogspot:
"i am a guard downtown lol.. it was crazy.. my store had toclose and like hell of cop cars .... people wanting to but stuff... this was insane lol... look must students do not suport this insane violense.. yea who is online... my yahoo is flying_underwear... please add me and chat with me... i want to start a non violent movement to counter this stuff... as a guard i see lots of people being mean to each other but still have the nerve to complain aobut the government and police.. if society is to change we have to take the evil out of the people.. i have aim too." - Guard, Redwood City
"Yawn... Yes, what a "travesty and injustice", but what is REALLY important is that we still have Pelosi, Obama, "Gay Marriage", Health Care at the end of a (IRS) gun, and the "Santa Cruz Style Social Enlightenment and Permissiveness Gang" to take care of us! So all is well after all... right?! I wonder how Mike Friend is going to spin this. No justice, no peace!!, Si, si puedes!!, Yes we can!!, Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah... "Immaturocracy", anyone?,'cause it only gets worse from here, folks. -To be continued... guaranteed. (Although I hope I'm wrong, I really, really do)" - Dusty Cynical Asshole from Oakland
"first of all let's get our facts straight. as one can see on the santa cruz independent media center website (links not allowed - indybay dot org slash santa cruz), the event was billed as a may day anti-capitalist street party, NOT a protest about any particular issue. may day is celebrated around the world as a revolutionary workers' holiday since 1886 when it was the day of the chicago general strike in the campaign for the 8-hour work day. the issue at stake is capitalism itself, and the colective power of the dispossessed classes against it, rather than any number of "rights" within it. i understand you need to go with *something* but at least do a little research - even on wikipedia - instead of *just* reprinting anything the cops tell you, eh? since when do they get to speak for anyone besides themselves?
to the rest of you, your ideas about santa cruz's radical political scene and who you see as responsible for this are truly laughable. the fbi have been here repeatedly and haven't caught anyone. you have no idea what you are dealing with, maybe its true that the status quo is always blind to its own oncoming demise. half the people breaking **** were radicals, half were just random young people who joined spontaneously, and certainly all of them hate your guts. it's probably best you just keep talking trash from behind the safety of your computer screens. oh yeah, the thing about "nonviolent" security guards and police is pretty hilarious too. how does that work?" - Alexg, Santa Cruz, CA
"This is senseless anger out of control. If these idiots do not like it here, they should pack their **** and go back to whatever country they cmae from." Watsonville Dad, Mountain View, CA (Thanks Tranny!)
In response to Cafe Pergolessi getting temporarily torched via text "I guess there is a god. This is amazing news. Thanks for letting of know." Andre Ordona, the world.
I think we can officially say "Ya Barn!" to this fantastic display of keeping Santa Cruz weird. Got grapes?

Do you remember how I was planning on doing monthly/bi-monthly edits? Well, I'm sorry for the delay. I'm proud of all y'all fools for coming through, beasting up to the utmost potential. So here is the fruit of our labor, a commemoration of how we just want to party... with zombies!
Damn, even Budman got this up before me. But here is some good good that was cool but didn't really work with a project I'm working on currently. That should be out in like a week, depending on how much more shit we can film and if vimeo let's me upload another 500mb's.
P.S. Marcus got shit on at Taqueria Vallerta, but later shit upon a spot to make up for it. Good shit Jimmy!
I really want to keep edits monthly, and so far I think I've done pretty good. I wanted to make a cheesy disco themed vid that has some more laughable moments in the Country Club video archives. First rails (and attempts), parking garage sessions, and partying with Lando; doesn't everything about BMX rule? And if this video totally sucks in your opinion, there's always this, which should leave you with shit-soaked pants.
First, we have a picture of Chi-chi, the newest member of the country club family. Secondly, and far more importantly, we have THE VERY FIRST COUNTRY CLUBBIN EXCLUSIVE!!!! I think it premiered at interbike last night, but I'll have to check with the SC contingency that migrated down that way. Come get some, please!
