Don't Think Twice

Andy Maguire - Don't Think Twice from Andy Maguire on Vimeo.

I heard this song hundreds of times while working at Sessions last year, and it stuck enough to make me want to use it in an edit. I think "Don't think twice" is a relevant mantra for most riders. If you're trying to hit a trick and security is on your tail, don't think twice, just do it. Don't think twice to bust a move if you're in a new place with a killer set-up, and you don't know if you'll be back any time soon. If you're trying something, don't think twice because the second-guessing will probably mess you up more. Being assertive and committed are part of the game, and I think those are two valuable qualities that many riders come away with. Thanks for watching, more to come in 2014!

Go All Weak!

Go All Weak SoCal Trip from Andy Maguire on Vimeo.

So I finally got around to finishing the edit of the Socal trip Jordan, Leo and I took at the end of April. Good spots, good riding, good crashes. Boys, we should consider going down that way sometime over the summer, because San Diego is rad.
Also, this Saturday Crazy Chris is hosting a jam/premiere at his newly expanded Asylum check the flier!

Who you calling a fool?

Although it's April Fool's Day, this is a youtube video that will not scare the shit out of you with a zombie face or whatever. But I think I'd have a nightmare or two if it cut over to Crazy Chris' face screaming bloody murder. Just kidding big guy! Brokeless III will be dropping on 4/08/13, so get ready for shark city, bitch!

Lil Mikey Monday

Nothing says Monday like getting back to your daily grind. Improve your grind with some Lil Mikey's! Two new vids in one week, pretty impressive; like the pedal grind thing Ronnie Grant does in the second vid at 1:00! Somebody's gonna be hitting Poet's Park soon. Have a great Monday peeps!

Sponge Spot

I gotta say, I've been feeling like riding the fun spot lately. Thanks for snapping these pics Steve!

Dangerous Grinds

Dangerous Grinds from Andy Maguire on Vimeo.

Dangerous Minds was a letdown of a movie, although it did put Coolio on the map. And it also featured the Giant Dipper. In homage, I give you "Dangerous Grinds." Below are some behind the scenes pics and perspectives from Greg Micklas and Dusty. Thanks guys!

Employees of Sessions Session

Greg and I sessioned Mayfair the other week on a windy ass day. We got the session going even though we weren't at Sessions.

This is a bad ass video with backflips.

grEight Three One

Heavily inspired by the new movie, Chasing Mavericks, local riders in Santa Cruz are trying to live like Jay and "GET IT IN." The Hunger Games have officially started, with the help of Nate Delp and his 7Deeznuts. Some pics from a Monterey session, hopefully scaring some old people. Mike Hutch pulling a Tupac by putting out more riding content when he isn't capable of riding. And finally a tribute to that guy Tyler Smith and what he does best - rip around skateparks. I love the GR831!

Anthony decided to star, produce and direct in this quick ipod joint. Hopefully more to come from the bad ass dad himself.

Alpha Frail

After fifty years, Spider Man finally enlisted the help of a side-kick by the name of Andy Maguire, otherwise known as Alpha. I hope it all adds up now; not working a landscaping job, the regular posts on the blog, catching me riding around town during business hours. Let's just say that working for Mr. Parker has it's perks and there really is a lot of down time when your career choice is super hero. On the flip side, I'm protecting the citizens of Santa Cruz County (with some exceptions in Santa Clara and Monterey Counties) from tweekers, bike thieves, scum, and schoolyard bullies. Oh shit, I think I just compromised my secret identity.

Based on this video, Dakota Roche is doing pretty well as Corey Martinez's BMX super hero sidekick. Although I kind of wonder what kind of green, toxic and possibly carbonated goo he had to drench himself with in order to get those lightening reflexes, insane pop, and unmatchable steeze. What could that substance be? And would enough Country Club have the same effect?

Rebel Run Tomorrow!

Going down tomorrow at 1pm, Mayfair plaza! 408Dave has the right idea when it comes to jams, so you won't want to miss this one. Below are some pics Nate Delp shot to get you in that street riding state of mind!

Where is Bin Lomond hiding?

Tucked away in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Ben Lomond is a hot spot to ride. Literally. Look at the sweat glistening off the shirtless bodies. Nate Delp captures the fun.

Weekends are anything but weak

Sometimes you gotta get out of town and do things a little differently. Thanks to Jay, Mario, Troy and Leo for showing us around the Bay(Monterey Bay, that is!) and Anthony and Mike for driving and letting me roll. Also gotta give props for the local boy Ron Dub in this video. No thanks to Lame Cunningham skatepark for only letting us ride for less than half an hour. Last time I checked, the sun stays up a little bit longer than 7:30. Embrace your Monday!

Rebirth of Slick...ledges that is

Made this quick edit for the LMB boys. They should be re-vamping their website soon, so check them out when you're not out on your grind. It's good to be back in Santa Cruz.

Shred Lobster

I had a bunch of out of town footie, so I thought I'd showcase myself being a tranny. Take a look! If only there was a never ending bucket of gnar at Shred Lobster.

Paused Motion

Once again, the park could use some love so here are some pictures from the Fun Spot taken by Nate Delp. I'm starting to think there are gophers living in the ramps. Another round of badgering the parks department?
Mike will take a stand for prime places to ride.

Lubricate Your Pucker

I'm wondering if it really is a good idea for me to have my own camera. Otherwise, buckle up for more really really stupid edits.

3 is the Magic Number

3 for $5, 3 sides to a triangle, and a little over three minutes of shredding from Kurt and I. This was probably the most fun filming I've had out of all the Country Clubbin' video projects, so I hope you all enjoy it! Thanks to everyone who helped us film too!

The Haunt for Shred October 2

A couple of familiar gags, a few new characters, and the underlining plot of shredding make this a bone(chilling)-ified Halloween sequel. Although it might be lacking an 80 foot dead whale, it still contains some good clips from a pretty solid day of riding. All it claimed was a pedal, two stem bolts, and the integrity of the original, which you can view below!

Beast Coast Vacation

Right after Jarrod and Sarah's wedding, Janelle and I headed to the east coast for about two weeks. Visited family, stayed on lake house, and went to New York for the first time. So here's some photographic and video evidence that I am not lying. Don't forget to check the posts below, as this is a pretty big cluster of updates.

Ducks right by our doorstep

This was the lakehouse we stayed at. Warm water and kayaking a few yards away from the front door

I have a problem with these credentials...

Not as much as I have a problem with iced tea giving you four eyes

Mister Best Ice Cream, home of the double Merlin's wizard sleeve

Where Andre the Giant dares.

I thought this MTA subway parody was awesome. Shredminders

Chicken and waffles in Harlem, at the famous Amy Ruth's.

Sick spot in Queens, thanks for the directions Cisco!

5Pointz is a famous graffiti spot in Queens. I think it might be closing down soon, but it was an awesome spot to chill and soak in the culture surrounding the area.

May the vacation be with you!

I don't know why I haven't seen this on TCU, but I'm a fan of New York street riding... and the pizza!
