Here are a few of the more poetic responses to the solid 90 minutes of riot that ensued last night. Pretty Hyphy... and I thought it was party time over at ye olde Country Clubbin' Blogspot:

"i am a guard downtown lol.. it was crazy.. my store had toclose and like hell of cop cars .... people wanting to but stuff... this was insane lol... look must students do not suport this insane violense.. yea who is online... my yahoo is flying_underwear... please add me and chat with me... i want to start a non violent movement to counter this stuff... as a guard i see lots of people being mean to each other but still have the nerve to complain aobut the government and police.. if society is to change we have to take the evil out of the people.. i have aim too." - Guard, Redwood City

"Yawn... Yes, what a "travesty and injustice", but what is REALLY important is that we still have Pelosi, Obama, "Gay Marriage", Health Care at the end of a (IRS) gun, and the "Santa Cruz Style Social Enlightenment and Permissiveness Gang" to take care of us! So all is well after all... right?! I wonder how Mike Friend is going to spin this.
No justice, no peace!!, Si, si puedes!!, Yes we can!!, Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...
"Immaturocracy", anyone?,'cause it only gets worse from here, folks.
-To be continued... guaranteed.
(Although I hope I'm wrong, I really, really do)" - Dusty Cynical Asshole from Oakland

"first of all let's get our facts straight. as one can see on the santa cruz independent media center website (links not allowed - indybay dot org slash santa cruz), the event was billed as a may day anti-capitalist street party, NOT a protest about any particular issue. may day is celebrated around the world as a revolutionary workers' holiday since 1886 when it was the day of the chicago general strike in the campaign for the 8-hour work day. the issue at stake is capitalism itself, and the colective power of the dispossessed classes against it, rather than any number of "rights" within it. i understand you need to go with *something* but at least do a little research - even on wikipedia - instead of *just* reprinting anything the cops tell you, eh? since when do they get to speak for anyone besides themselves?

to the rest of you, your ideas about santa cruz's radical political scene and who you see as responsible for this are truly laughable. the fbi have been here repeatedly and haven't caught anyone. you have no idea what you are dealing with, maybe its true that the status quo is always blind to its own oncoming demise. half the people breaking **** were radicals, half were just random young people who joined spontaneously, and certainly all of them hate your guts. it's probably best you just keep talking trash from behind the safety of your computer screens. oh yeah, the thing about "nonviolent" security guards and police is pretty hilarious too. how does that work?" - Alexg, Santa Cruz, CA

"This is senseless anger out of control. If these idiots do not like it here, they should pack their **** and go back to whatever country they cmae from." Watsonville Dad, Mountain View, CA (Thanks Tranny!)

In response to Cafe Pergolessi getting temporarily torched via text "I guess there is a god. This is amazing news. Thanks for letting of know." Andre Ordona, the world.

I think we can officially say "Ya Barn!" to this fantastic display of keeping Santa Cruz weird. Got grapes?
